I usually post a blog only every other day, but I'll make an exception today. Again, I can't seem to reply to any of your comments. What's the secret? Someone mentioned downloading "firebox". What's that?
But here's my the heart of my post. I watched Frontline last night (PBS) about kids and the internet nowadays. It is so scary what happens, I was mortified. It made me thankful I didn't (for the most part) have to go through that with my children. They're now ages 24-34 (3 girls, one boy) and out of the house. I had no computer when they were in their "formative" years. All I had to moniter was the television, and with no cable or satellite, that was a snap. So I (and they) escaped the negative aspects of the internet. You know what I mean. Hair curling stuff. As a single parent raising my kids, if I had to deal with this, I'd probably be a basket case by now. I escaped. That's looking on the bright side. Lucky me.

I had to switch so I could reply and upload pictures that were larger sized, not just the thumb nails - *sigh*
Good luck to ya!! *hugs*
Gem~
Uhhh, you mean you don't use Firefox with Adblock Plus? Where have you been the last few years? Using (shivers) IE?
Randy, was happy to hear from you--I'm not gonna download anything--will have to wait to be able to reply to comments when blogster honchos fix the problem. Stay warm, Sue.
It's amazing how adept the kids are at using the PCs. My 7-year-old grandson
is a whiz.....which is scary.
I use Firefox now just to access this blog. Hate running two web browsers at the same time , but that is the price for staying in touch with you guys! You are too important to me.
Oh, I know what you mean by the internet being a scary place for kids. I now have a grandchild to worry about, but thank goodness his parents are both computer savvy and will teach their children how to be safe, which of course, also means they will have to keep those communication lines open when their son hits the rebelliou
s teen years.
Don't ge me wrong, but it was much easier raising kids in the past. The youth of today are so smart and have so many temptations.I'm glad mine are grown and on their own.I still get the phone calls for help once in awhile but that's what parents are for, right?
I hate it when I get those phone calls. It usually includes a request for money--and I'm an old softie!
